How to choose a chrome plater

Good triple-plating is copper, then nickel, then a thin flash of chrome. If a quote sounds cheap, ask how many layers you are getting.

Questions worth asking:

- Do you repair pitting and dents in-house before plating, or is that extra? - Is the work triple-plated, and how thick is the copper layer? - Do you strip and polish mazak or die-cast parts? Many platers refuse pot metal. - What is the realistic turnaround, and do you photograph parts on arrival? - Are parts insured while in your care and in transit?

Send parts fully dismantled, with no rubber, felt or fasteners still fitted, and photograph everything before it leaves you.
